On doing less
I spent most of my twenties confusing motion with progress. A full calendar felt like a full life. It was mostly just full.
The quiet test
Lately I have been running a quiet test: when I want to add something, I ask what it would replace. Time is not elastic, no matter how many productivity systems promise otherwise. Saying yes to one thing is saying no to another, whether you admit it or not.
What is left
Doing less has not made me more relaxed, exactly. It has made me more honest. The few things I keep, I actually do. The rest I have stopped pretending I will get to.
There is nothing profound here. Just a Sunday with nothing on it, and the slow realisation that I no longer feel the need to fix that.
